Day 1 : Marrakech - High Atlas - Ouarzazate - Mgouna - Dades Valley
Your 5 Days Marrakech to Merzouga desert tour will begin at 8:30 am after breakfast when our local driver picks you up from your hotel or riad in Marrakech. You will travel through the Tizi-N-Tichka pass, which is 2260 metres above sea level in the High Atlas mountains, on your way to the Dades valley.We will enjoy the beautiful mountain scenery as we travel to Ouarzazate, where we will stop at Taourirt Kasbah, one of Morocco’s most spectacular ksars, and the Oscar film studios before having lunch. En route, we will also see a variety of beautiful, colourful landscapes and authentic Berber villages.
The second location to see is the Rose Valley, which is accessible via the expansive Skoura palm grove. This area is a beautiful place to take in the surroundings and the several kasbahs that have been constructed there. Roses are grown in this valley damascenes for use in beauty products like the highly prized rosewater.
We proceed to Dades Valley, where we will spend the night at the hotel with a view of the valley. The Rose Festival is held here every year in May, and it is a significant museum for Moroccan culture.
Day 2: Dades Gorges - Tinghir - Todgra Gorges - Merzouga
After breakfast at the hotel, the five-day Marrakech desert tours depart for Todra Gorge. Berber villages are strewn throughout the route, and as we pass through Tinghir and continue on to the palm-tree-lined Todra Valley, we’ll stop to take in the breathtaking scenery. The Todra Gorges are currently one of the most well-liked rock climbing locations in all of Morocco.We will take a brief stroll through the area’s 300-meter-high, grey-and-pink high canyons before moving on to Touroug and Tinjdad for lunch. From there, we will travel to Erfoud, where we will experience the Tafilalet Saharan oasis, before continuing on to Merzouga and the magnificent Erg Chebbi dunes.
To get to your nomadic berber tents, you must ride a camel for approximately an hour and a half from here. During the walk, you will stop in the centre of the dunes to watch the sunset, try sandboarding if you’re interested in that activity, snap pictures, and take in the landscape.You’ll travel to the Berber camp of Merzouga after the sun has set, where you’ll be greeted with a glass of mint tea, dinner, a campfire, a music party, and an overnight stay.
Day 3: Full day in the desert (Visit the nomads, Berber Villages, Camel trek))
We will begin our Merzouga excursion after breakfast at your hotel. We’ll stop at the Hassi Labied oasis to witness its irrigation canal and land agriculture before continuing our exploration of the intriguing places around the Erg Chebbi dunes.If you’re interested in listening to the Gnawa music of the dark-skinned people who were transported to Morocco as immigration over a hundred years ago and who were working as slaves, we’ll go south to the seasonally active Sriji lake (if there is water in it) and then proceed to Khamlia village…
Then, on our Merzouga 4×4 desert tour, we’ll have the chance to visit a nomadic Berber family who are still living in their tent in the middle of the Sahara. We’ll share a glass of mint tea with them and learn about life in the desert. After that, we’ll continue to M’ifis mines. In addition to being popular for tourism, the Merzouga desert is also known for its minerals and fossils.After lunch at a nearby restaurant, we’ll make stops at several panoramic vistas to soak in the scenery and take pictures of the sights before returning to the village. Afternoon off, dinner, and overnight in Merzouga hotel or riad.
Day 4: Merzouga - Alnif - Draa Valley - Ouarzazate
The following morning, after a filling breakfast at the hotel, you will meet your driver and drive to Ouarzazate, stopping in Rissani en route to check out its weekly traditional market if we are fortunate enough to be there on one of the market’s days (Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday).After that, we’ll drive through a dry pre-desert region where we’ll witness acacia trees, which are typical of this environment. We’ll stop a few times en route to the Draa valley to take in the breathtaking views of the river that gives the valley its name. It is Morocco’s longest river. Our five-day desert trek from Marrakech continues across the Anti Atlas Mountains into Ouarzazate.We will have some free time to eat lunch in the city before continuing on to Ouarzazate. We will arrive there in the late afternoon or evening, have dinner, and spend the night at the hotel.
Day 5: Ouarzazate - Kasbah Ait ben Haddou - The Atlas Mountains - Marrakech
After breakfast at your accommodation in Ouarzazate, we’ll drive to the famed Kasbah of Ait ben Haddou, which UNESCO designated as a World Heritage Site in 1986. Many movies, including Gladiator, Obelix, The Mummy, The Jewel of the Nile, and Sahara with Penélope Cruz, were filmed here.Before passing through Tizi n’Tichka, we’ll stop along the way to take in the breathtaking views of these mountains and genuine Berber villages. After lunch at a restaurant in the middle of the Atlas Mountains, our 5-day Marrakech desert tour will come to an end when we arrive in the city in the late afternoon.
